Charles Tanqueray & Co.
The story about gin from Charles Tanqueray dates all the way back to 1830, and took place in Vine Street London. A lot has happen since them, and in 1986, United Distillers, today called Diageo, bought them. Since then they have provided us with a lot of exiting gin products. They are very secretive about their production, and some believe that the original gin only consist of four ingredients; juniper, coriander seed, angelica root and liquorish root. Tanqueray had never confirmed or disowned this assertion, and because of this, it is become an accepted fact.
Tanqueray Rangpur Lime Distilled Gin
Here is an exciting gin from Tanqueray. It is a meet between Britain and India, with the use of the rare Rangpur lime. The Rangpur lime is not really a lime, but more a mix between a lemon and a mandarin orange. It has a strong acid bite to it, which is combined with the taste of juniper, coriander, bay leaves and ginger.
Tasting
Nose: Lots of citrus zest on the nose, fresh citrus peel and just-cut botanicals.
Palate: Not as sharp and citric as the nose suggests, instead offering a pleasantly balanced gin flavor. This is instantly recognizable as Tanqueray.
